I don't know where to put this but I guess I'll ask here:

I'm considering buying a truck with a salvaged title. Is there a way to get "salvaged" off of the title or it that just the way it is? I'm in California. Thanks.

you can regester it in a state that does not have salvage titles and then bring it back with the clean ttile.......but its not exactally honest ...if your planing on driving it it shouldnt matter that much unless the insurance company wont put full coverage on it.

Will having a salvage title affect the resale value? It's a '55 Chevy truck that I plan on having for a few years.

Something like a 55 Chevy, probably won't effect value much if at all. It wouldn't take much damage for your "average" 55 Chevy truck and a guy who didn't insure it properly or fight for it to get a salvage title.

On a late model car, STAY AWAY FROM THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE! Unless you REALLY know what the car looked like before it was "repaired" STAY AWAY from them.

I agree with Brian, should not be a big deal as long as the truck is nice and the prospective owner is made aware. Be up front about it and you will not have a problem.
