Wink salvage title

Last year, I bought ford taurus from one of my firnd. He told me this car had a not serious accident. After I got my pink slip, I found out this car has salvage title. I paid almost same price as blue book without salvage title.
I wanna know how much the value is different when a car has salvage title and doesn't have.
Thanks.

I suppose there could be a salvage title for different reasons. However just be more careful in dealing with this "friend" in the future.

I believe my s-10 is a salvage title vehicle. I do know it was wrecked on the passenger side. But my brother in law was upfront about what his cousin gets the vehicles. SO no major problems or surprises. I hate it, but it has been a good 8 years of hating it so I can't complain too much.

If you go to some banks the value that they will loan on a salvage title is less. What a salvage title means is that at sometime an insurance company bought this car because of damage, wreck, flood, etc.. I know of a brand new just purchased car that was given a salvage title because someone poured brake fluid on it and it ate the paint and the owner would not go for a new paint job.

The car might be worth as much as a car without a salvage title but the words alone makes people shy away. I for one would not be afraid to buy a car with a salvage title depending on what was wrong with it but some people wouldn't even think about it. A friend of mine bought a Vette that had hit a sign and tore up the front fender, hood, mirror, and popped the airbag. Another friend of mine saw it before it was fixed. Friend #1 fixed the car and put it up for sale. Friend #2 looked at it and wanted it but was scared to death because it had a salvage title. I said so what, if you want it then buy it. Friend #1 finally sold it but had a heck of a time because of the title. Go figure.
