San Antonio 'Texas Heat' car show

So, there is two hours of my life I will never get back. AND, that includes the 30mile each way commute.

$20 entrance, and pretty much all I saw was BIG 22" wheels, Monster trucks,
Scions & Hondas and stereo sales.

Hell, I can see the same crap at WalMart any day of the week, and not be
assulted by the LOUD Hip-hop/Rap crap that virtually every sound system
Vendor was selling.

The cars of interest to me:
64 Pont Catalina----Unrestored all original 50,000mi car/with bumper ding-Beautiful
69 Mustang Fastback----6cyl car----virtually flawless--never driven
66 Impala SS----327/PG----Nice car but I am not a LOWRIDER guy
50 Chev 4dr Sed---customized--Lowrider
Late Model Navigator--For the mural THEME only--not a big mural fan
About a 85 Bronco 4-dr----I have only seen 1 other--By Superior Coach Builders
62 Galaxie 4-dr----My next door neighbor is building for someone, so it deserves mentioning. And a T-bucket that belongs to a friend of the same neighbor.
__________________________________________________ ___________
Only 2 Donks----any more than that---and my breakfast would return
More 22" wheeled Chrys 300s than I could count
A sea of front drive import crap that just makes me puke.
And a bunch of trucks that are Frame-on-the-Ground

Try not to misunderstand----I can appreciate all the work that goes into anyones project, But this was a pisspoor excuse for a show--and to charge me $20 to boot.

I have been lucky enough to be in Charlotte when there was a show/swapmeet at Lowes Motorspeedway a couple of years ago.
I think it was a $10 admission and I spent over 12 hrs a day
(Sat-Sun) and still did not get to see everything that was there.
Vendors at these show are of the same interest to me as the cars, I like to see new stuff and what is available.

To go to a show and not see a single street-rod, muscle car, or decent custom is just assinine.

Saw that one guy had given credit to his painter on a placard---I would have the same painter shot, tied to the back of the car and dragged down the freeway (BTW the paint on the 59 is far from perfect, but is real nice).

The last 20 minutes of strolling thru the lot I was begining to think GMG

I can go to a lowrider show and be entertained all day, not that I'm a lowrider fan, but I do like the creativity of their projects.
The show in Boerne next month---Pre-war only---I go to that, cause I like the socializing with the owners, not because I am "into" that style of car.
Also there are vendors of more than Stereos and WagonWheel size wheels.
I have not yet met any owners that go to that show, that are so uppity they cannot be seen talking with a commoner. I have taken my daughter to that show, and as she was admiring a 55 T-Bird that had just pulled into the bank parking lot, the owner told her to get in and sit behind the wheel. She thought THAT was awesome. (49 & newer could not enter the show--but could park at the bank and still be seen)

This Texas Heat show is just too damn proud for what it had to offer.
I may enter my 59 in a show coming up in Kerrville in November. Maybe I can go to that show and not have to listen to crappy music (noise) and look at all the kids whose pants are around their knees.

Bryan

Mural of San Antonio---you can see the AlamoDome--The Alamo
And the tower of America.

My son and I just came back from Pep Boys

They had a little showing there today
At least there was a couple of Chevelles there
Only about 10 cars but it was a better show than the Heat Wave

Rained on us coming home--only there for about 30 min. after a purchase in the store. We took the 59--glad the wipers worked

To each his own I guess. I get tired of going to car shows and seeing nothing but restored 50, 60, & 70's cars with aluminum wheels and chrome air cleaners. I want to see hot rods, dont care if there old ones, new ones, or imports.

I just got back from the Food Lion Auto Fair at the speedway, went Friday too, only stayed about 6 hours each day. The swap meet is always the best part, I picked up with a 4bbl carb and aluminum manifold for my '66 Mustang for a reasonable price, but missed out on a set of complete Granada disc brake spindles for $80 by a couple minutes.

I saw quite a few interesting cars like this cool custom, anyone know what it is?

I actually made to the last show in Nov.
Can't make the July show (with car anyway), engine is out to fix a serious oil consumption issue.

I'll have to look into that Fredricksburg swap meet tho, hope I'm in town and not travelling. Gotta start scrounging parts for a 64 C-10 and a 66 Elky

Sorry you got sucker punched by a bad show, Bryan. Didn't the flyers say what kind of cars would be there? But when you're trying to find something at a swap meet, I guess you have to take a chance. I missed the Spring Fling in Rosenberg this year and I know I could have found some cool stuff there.
