sandblasting respirator

What kind of filters does everyone use with his 3m half-mask? Do I need to change them every 30hours or so, like when spraying isocyanates?

I own a fresh-air supply but because of the fact that I blast a long distance away from the booth, it's not practical to uninstall the turbine with all the tubing everytime I need to blast something small

Probably. Not like the ISO's but here is what I do.
I use the general type for blasting & base type paint. It has the prefilter over the "canister" filter and I keep the pre filter changed after each session. This should keep the majority of the nasty's out and make the canister last longer.
I use the AO Safety respirator from HF which has the canister then a fiber type prefilter. I double up on the pre filter and change those and do the canister as needed, which is a personal matter of choice IMO.
MAIN thing is FIT to your face. ANY facial hair is a BIG issue so either shave or get a full face type if you like beards.
