sanding!!

hi everyone,
im in the process of sanding my 69 chevelle gas tank,rear and other parts. my question is: is GM paint made with lead in 69? What kind of mask can i use to protect myself? im using a wire wheel brush and a mask( N95) to clean the metal. what can i use to protect myself?

Definately there was lead in the paints in 69, wear a good particle mask and you'll be fine. Keep your sandwiches away from the work area.

i dont bring food when i work on my car. but i do it outside i wore a faceshield and 2 N95 mask. so i dont breath it in

I use the regular dual cartridge resp. from harbor for all my sanding and priming,ect. I buy extra pre filters and change them out when dirty. I use the good charcoal type for my bc/cc.
I hope that tank has had plenty of time to get the fume's out.

i seen one in home depot today a 3M dual cartidrge resp for 28.99. its for toxic dust and other things. im goin to buy that instead of using the other ones. who knows it might not work as well as i think it is.

The one I'm refering to is like the charcole one but has smaller canisters.
It's usually around $20.00
