What are your intentions to do with the finish after wet-sanding?

If you're color sanding (before buffing) I think nothing beats the
Meguiars brand "Nikkons". It's the best stuff I've ever used but it is
expensive and only comes in finer grits, I think starting with 1000
and goes up. It really lasts and cuts easily.
Nortons "Black Ice" seems as good to me at half the price.
That's all I use now. After that I would go 3M.
Don't buy cheap paper, you'll use twice as much so you won't save anything
and you'll work yourself to death with it.
This is one area where it really pays to get good stuff.

Apply enough coats of primer so you can block sand with 180. Use a guide coat to gage your progress on the initial block sanding. Once it is flat wet sand with 400 to 600. Wet sand your final coat with 1500 to 2000 then buff.

Are you planning on repainting directly over the sanded finish?
Or, were you planning on primering first?
