There is a sata jet 2000 on CL by me for $300. Is this gun any good? What is it worth? It looks like new and comes with a 1.3 tip. Due to limited funds, right now I am looking for a gun I can use for primer and base coat. I know I will need another tip for primer. I have never painted a car so this would be my first gun.

yeah, no. A friend of mine picked up a 3000rp for $350 off of ebay 3 years ago still wrapped in plastic. AND dont use the same gun for primer and base coat. You can pick up a CHEAP primer gun from Harbor Freight.

I spray with the sata 2000 with a 1.4 tip all of the time. It sprays base as well as any gun out there. It sprays clear well, but not the best. My concern with a used gun would be that it maybe damaged, so look it over good and take it apart. The price maybe a little high, they sold for $500 to 600 new.

without me even asking about price it is down to $250 and he will throw in a regulator (i get to pick from several he has).

Buyer beware, there are a number of painters on here that have been burnt with ebay paint gun buys.
Used only a few times, and the gun has wrong needle installed and looks like it was dragged behind a truck.

If it was a 200 RP I would look for $250, being an NR not worth $75 to me, its a good base gun but you better have a compressor with some balls to run that gun and a cheater $700 5-hp is not going to do it except for spot work or maybe a whole side at once. The NR is an scfm hog.

the gun uses 15.2 cfm according to sata, my compressor system should make around 20 cfm. The nice thing about craigslist is I can see it prior to buying it but your point is well taken.

Just like previously stated, the NR 2000 isn't worth a crap as far as I'm concerned...I would stay away from it. I bought one a couple years ago and I don't like it at all.

The atomization seems to be inconsistent (job to job, even cup to cup with same paint), which led to making adjustments to the gun mid-stream, typically yielding unfavorable results.

I've had better results from a Snap-on HVLP....

thanks everyone, I will not even make an offer. I had just assumed that if it was a sata it had to be a decent gun but I guess that is not the case.
