i'm having a real hard time deciding what colour to paint my 33 plymouth.
i plan on selling the car by the end of the summer, so colour selection is a huge factor.
what do you guys think?
what would sell easier and faster, a satin black rat rod type look or would a lime green eppeal more to the mopar guys when purchasing a hemi hot rod?

If you are going to sell it, leave it in primer, so the new owner can make it whatever he wants.....You could also advertise it, offering to paint it the colour of their choice.

i wasn't thinking black primer, i was thinking a satin or suede bc/cc paint job.

I'm gonna say flat black, but that is personal preference. When selling, be sure to note that it isn't primer.

Poncho gives real sound advice. Finish up any needed body work and then prime it with epoxy primer. Then when you sell it the purchaser can paint it any color that they like.

Flat paint would make me leery,I like them on some things, but I would be more cautious when buying something with flat paint since it hides bad bodywork to a degree.

Lime green will appeal to about 4 out of 100000000 people, and those 4 people who actually LIKE lime green, won't have any money.

I know a guy who has a really nice 34 coupe painted british racing green, he's been trying to sell it for years....no one likes the color, and they don't want to repaint.

Lime green is the worst color for resell value. Unless of course its an original color on a 60's mopar. Letting the buyer pick the color is sound advice but I would never buy a car with a fresh paint job, primer or paint, without planning on completely stripping it. I also wouldn't paint a car going over someone else's bodywork (too much liability). It's not that I don't trust others bodywork skills but I do question others metal work skills. So your best bet for resell value is to paint it shiny Black or red IMHO. And for the record I own a lime green car.

Very true, grashhopper... Primered cars always make me a bit leery, what would help in those instances is some pics, showing any rust and how it was repaired.

That said, lime green is for popsicles... I'm with Mikey on this one.

If it's lime green it should be doing the 1/4 mile in 5 seconds.

Go with red.

They don't call it resale red for nothin.

A red car may not stand out at the street rod nationals, but it does look good going down the street in "Anytown, America".

A nicely painted red car will bring WAY more than a car in primer.
