i'm about to paint a 1980 Jeep CJ7, (first paint job) and was thinking about painting it a satin(?) green (low gloss).
i was wondering if it would be best to use that or a gloss finish.
the jeep is going to be driven off road only and i'm kind of looking for the most durable finish; and something easy to touch up.

Clear over base or over single stage is always the the best finish for durability and long term life.

The flatting agent you use in the paint be it single stage or the clear does not change the life of the paint at all.

If you want durable you could have the body coated in spray in bedliner material. My freind did this on his 76 CJ. Its tougher than any paint could ever be.

i read on a post no more than a month ago a guy found a place that did the spray in bedliner material with custom colors. I think it was in the exterior forum you might try a search this would get you your color and durability!!! just a thought!

thanks for the link, but there is always that "money" thing that comes into play.
i would love to be able to do that, but this is a "back yard" paint job, so we are trying to save.
