Save me a headache

Hello
I am getting ready to fab my own MII front for my 60 F-100

My question is that since the stock width on the Pinto is narrower than the F-100. I will have to widen my crossmember design to gain the width I need. The only problem I see with doing this, is the rack. I see two ways that I can go.

1- Mount the rack in the stock position on the driver side (for easier steering hookup) and machining an extension for the passenger side. This extension will of course be installed on the inner tie rod of the rack to keep the correct geometry.

2- Find a rack possibly a T-Bird that is wider at the inner tie rods?

I apologize if this topic has been covered. I did a quick search and came up with no info.

Thanks in advance
-toad

As a forum Moderator here.....I would like to WELCOME YOU HERE.....

The A arm and the steering arm MUST be the same length....or it will bump steer. ......

The photo shows the TOP A arm ....circled.....because the lower A arm is not visible.

I suggest you formulate another plan....for a F-100......

Thanks for the welcome Deuce

I understand that they need to be even, this is why I plan to extend one side of the rack. I installed a MII kit on a Model A years ago and I think that an extension for the rack came w/ the kit

I've got a Pinto that I drug home today sitting in the drive (my wifes pissed ) I'm going to cut the member out tomorrow and start drawing my design on Autocad 2000.

I will try to get some photos uploaded over the weekend to better explain my thinking.

Now that wouldn't be original.

I have access to programs and machinery that can get the job done right.
