Post sb heating

i probably have no business near a car let alone under a hood. up until 3 months ago i had never seen a chevy or any type of engine (other than primary vehicle)so ALL of this is very new to me. slowly but surely im coming around.

the other day i changed the oil and gaskets to the hedders+collectors and the car ran great but on my way back i knocked the bottom collecter hard on the asphault and since it has triggered the "idiot" light to read HOT. the bare necessities have been maintained (oil, trans fluid water)and i dont know what it could be.

could the jolt to the collector have shaken something up to cause the engine to heat up or light to turn on? the light seems to be in synch with the throttle what could this be?

also i have an emmisions problem. there seems to be exaust fumes creeping into the cab. i have a glasspack cutoff at the rear end. does this cause a vacuum in towards the cab? if i put tail pipes will this resolve my problem? will this cause me to lose power from the exaust? any help is greatly appreciated since i am damn near clueless when it comes to cars.

Sounds like you knocked the wire to the sender loose, check the connection before condemning the cooling system.
