SB302 HO motor into 1989 F150 Truck

Hello All; I just rebuilt a 1988 Mustang 302 SB Ford motor that I'm installing in a 1989 Ford F150 pick up. The truck has a EFI 302 in it now. My question is If the Mustang motor is an HO motor and I have to change the firing order will the EFI still work or do I have to do change something electronic in the EFI system? At this point I'm not sure I have an HO motor yet. If its not everything is OK, same firing order (15426378) as truck. But if it is an HO motor the firing order is (13726548). Thats the easy part (changing wires around) but will the EFI work??? That my question. Help someone. Thanks and regards Bob

Changing the wiring around won't do anything but make it run like crap unless you change the Camshaft to match the firing order.

I did exactly this a few weeks ago , I put a 5.0 in a pickup and it had the HO cam.The truck ran very nice. The firing order is different so just put the plug wires on in the order for the HO engine. The system on that truck is only a Batch fire injector and not sequential.
You have to change the injector wiring and the pcm to get the full potential of the H O cam as the setup was designed for sequencial injection for the HO.

The 5.8 litre setup was also batch fire for that year and the 5.8 has used the 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 firing order since it was built in the early carb days... so it is all good, run that order on your 5.0 HO motor and you will be fine
