SBC 2 piece rear seal information

My 327 SBC engine rear seal is leaking (more than what it should be, only 2900 miles on complete rebuild). I will pull the motor this winter and replace seal but I was wondering if anyone is using a different seal than GM's?

There are aftermkt seals available that move the seal lip to a fresh spot on the crank. Try Fel-Pro or Victor-Reinz

I agree. Also, rotate seal ends so they are not in line with the bearing cap.

Fel-pro makes a double lip seal that works good, Cost a little more, But worth the extra cash. Perry.

We have aleays used the seals from Universal Molded parts which they call there Pro-Fit seals and the are made out of a red Viton rubber same as the a valve seals the standard seal is P/N 20350 and the offset seal isP/N 20283 and ther number is 1800-626-2967 ask for Greg Travis

And we have always installed these seals like GM does as we don't offset them in the block and no leaks so far.
