I would say put a 3.75" stroker crank in it. This will make a big difference in low end power. There are pretty inexpensive ones ou there. If you are already doing a rebuild, it won't cost you much more. You'll have to clearance the block a little to clear the stroke. Also like the other guys said, gearing makes a big difference too. If you decide to go with a 383 (which I would), this will help to overcome those short gears and big tires you have.
