SBC 350 Carb Recommendations
Hey guys, I'm new to the site (although I've been creeping in the background doing a lot of searching).
I'm looking for Carb recommendations for my SBC 350 that I'm building. From my searches, I'm torn between a 650 and 750 cfm. Here's my current engine setup that I'm building: 1974 SBC 350 - Stock Bore Flat Top Pistons 64cc Edelbrock Performer RPM Aluminum Heads Edelbrock Performer Intake Comp Cams Thumpr Cam MSD Pro Billet Distributor, 6AL box and coil I realize the Thumpr cam isn't a high HP cam, however it has what I'm looking for. I have done some research and see that the vacuum pressure is the biggest issue that I may have, so I want to make sure I purchase a Carb that will work the best. Any recommendations are appreciated! |
I would use a 750

SBC 350 Carb Recommendations
Here is the Holley interactive Carb selector. Holley Interactive Carburetor Selector. Try it out see what you come up with. Stay away from the street avenger series carburetors. 650 CFM FOUR BARREL STREET CARBURETOR PART #: 0-80783C, 650 CFM FOUR BARREL STREET CARBURETOR PART #: 0-9895, 750 CFM FOUR BARREL STREET CARBURETOR PART #: 0-80508S. Here is three carburetors for you to check out.

If your intake is a spread bore then you should use a spread bore carb.
I like the edelbrock RPM intake (not rpm air gap) with a holley 3310 (750 vacuum secondary) on just about any street/strip chevy V8 build. Works well on street driven engines up to 450hp. Get a 750 cfm if you get a vacuum secondary carb. Or a 650 cfm with mechanical secondarys. |
The 750 cfm carb is always the best buy for a high performance SBC.
You don't give enough specifics to get beyond that. |

Imo the 750 cfm 3310 for example is a better carburetor than a 770cfm street avenger. These street avenger carburetors are just factory replacements not hi performance carburetors like the Holley 4150 series, Speed Demon and the Quick Fuel carburetors.
