sbc 350 heads

ok i have a 1995 350 single plane intake cam 600 carb gen 1 vortech heads i had a problem with the factory pressed in rocker arm studs backing out so i decided to remove them and picked up a set of ARP screw in head studs i also have a a set of 1.5 roller rockers and comp cam push rods well i taped one the holes on the head screwed the stud completely down and set the rocker down on the stud and noticed that the stock pushrod legnth will not work with the after market head studs no big deal just get longer push rods but it seems that the rocker is not setting in the right position on the valve spring so my question is does the roller on the rocker need to sit directly in the middle of valve spring i have heard you need an alignment tool to tap the holes for the studs but where else do they go but straight down if anyone can help that would be awsome thanks

The stud boss has to be shortened if you are using a stud with hex base. Usually about .280"

Only on car fix is use "repair" studs. These are a stock looking stud that has a 7/16 threaded base. WHERE ARE THE TAPPING CHIPS GOING? How are you keeping the studs straight?
