SBC 350 and Turbo 350 OR 2 spd Powerglide???

hey guys i got a 350 pushin just over 300 horse. I got a good turbo 350 for the car which i havent got to use yet, and i JUST got a 2 speed powerglide transmission given to me which works excellent. I just want to know which would be the better choice. And what are the pro's and con's for each. Thanks!

It's going into a 1986 regal/grand national. I havent used the turbo 350 yet, and i had a friend with a cutlass with a turbo 350 and it was alright, i just want to see about the 2 spd powerglide. I know they are awesome tranny's.

Having never used a Powerglide and not knowing much about them, I will vote for the TH350. I know a guy who has a powerglide in a 450 hp T-bucket and he is ditching it for the TH350. But, all applications are different.

Powerglides are very durable and great for bracket racing because they only shift once or for demo derbies because they are tough. However for a medium to heavy street driven car they SUCK. First gear is only around 1.82 to 1, it varies depending on what it came out of, so you need low rear end gears to get any kind of acceleration.

Most of the cars I had as a kid had PG's and I hated them with a passion. That's how I found out how tough they were, no number of neutral or reverse drops would break one, I tried so I could justify swapping in a TH400 or 4 speed. Never got it done. If I had a real light car with a lot of motor and low gears that I ran at the strip I might go for the PG but for a street car a TH350 or better yet a 200-4R would be my choices.
