Sbc 383 headers for a 66 chevy II

Hey guys

In the middle of putting my brothers 66 chevy II back together. We are trying to decide on primary tube diameter. Hoping you guys could help. It's between 1 5/8 and 1 3/4 hooker long tube equal length. The 1 3/4 are in stock while the 1 5/8 are special order. It is a street car. Please see specs below.

Sbc 383
Edelbrock performer Rpm cyl head
Comp XE274 hyd roller
11:1
Rpm air gap
750 carb
4:11 gears.

Lol!! That's what we are going for. You don't think we will be sacrificing any low end torque to make more horse power in an rpm range the motor will rarely see??

if? if you lose any low end torque, the engine will blow through that range so fast you wouldn t notice. The extra hp on top would make you smile.
If you lost 10 pounds torque ( I doubt you will) and accelerate often from 35-45 mph in high gear, you might feel it.
