SBC 383.......Starter continues cranking after car has started

In my 84**** Cutlass I have a SBC 383 with a high torque mini starter and push button ignition system. As of just recent......I crank the car and I hear this grinding type of sound for about 3 seconds after car is running. I thought the starter may have been sticking until I replaced it and the other starter did the exact same thing. Its not as screeching and annoying as the sound it'd make when car is running and you engage the starter.......but it still makes some type of grinding metal against metal sound. What could this be?

Its not just a push button switch.......its the keyless system with key fob.....like on newer cars. Alarm and keyless ignition all in one system. I thought the button might've been the problem but as soon as I started it I disconnected the button.......and the noise continued for 2-3 secs.

Starter may be set too close causing binding so the spring cant pull it out immediately....just something to check.

I thought about that Turbo. It the starter has been on without shims for 8 months now.......what would cause it to need spacers now?

When I had this happen to me it was the solenoid. I replaced it and the problem was gone.
