sbc 383 wont stop smoking! please help!

so i have a new 383 sbc that has smoked since the beggining. the motor is strong as hell and runs good but smokes alot, a blueish white smoke, and has bad oil pressure. Now the motor has good oil pressure and doesnt smoke untill it heats up. Once the motor heats up the oil pressure drops to 5-10psi at idol and maby 40psi while driving and starts to billow out smoke. so i pulled the motor at about 2000 miles and took it to a local machine shop that rebuilds motors, told him the problem and he put a new high volume oil pump, new bearings and rings. and said there shouldnt be anymore problems. So put the motor back in and and now the oil pressure is about the same at 10psi at idol and about 40psi while driving and the motor still smokes! so now that it is colder iv found out that the oil pressure stays good and there is no smoke for the first couple of minutes. And as soon as the thermostat opens it puffs smoke out and the oil pressure starts to drop. Does anyone have any suggestions about what is going on? please help

When it was freshened, what were your final bearing clearances? Did you check the valve guides? New stem seals? Has the block been checked for cracks, zyglo, magnaflux? Is the oil foaming, like coolant in the pan? Using oil? the smoke sounds like oil, what does it smell like? Is it on deceleration only?

I would assume the rebuild included a fresh hone and proper break-in procedure? Did the shop use the tapered or narrow bearings? (Depending on the crank journal radius).

Did you use mineral oil or synthetic for break in?
