sbc 400 balancer
Are the 400 sbc balancers weighted different then other small blocks to help externally balance? If so how do you tell the difference.

Yes, they are different. It is easy to tell the difference, the 400 balancer is counterweighted with a large bulge on the inside ring while an internally balanced damper doesn't have it. I just sold a used one for 25 bucks.
