sbc 400 crank measurements

If a 400 crank on mains is turned. 020 over what shout it measure at and if the rods are. 010 what they measure at?

UNDER size. You can't oversize by grinding. 2.650" is roughly the stock spec. So .020 under would be 2.630". Rods would be 2.100" minus .010". =2.090"

Mine measures 2.633 so it would be .020 and rods are 1.973

The rod dimension you give is for a .030" under SMALL journal (2.00") 1955-1967. Re measure. You are .003 " too big in both your measurements.

I used a digital caliper(i know its not a true reading) ill bring it to a shop tomorrow to get it checked. I measure 2.633 main and 2.087 on rods..yhe motor was rebuilt(406) and the main and rod bearings were both .010 and it had a steady small knock at idle.i took it apart and rods were tight on crank and mains were loose so i mesured and figured they put the wrong bearings in and the knock was on the main.

Ok got it micked.mains are 2.63750 and rods are 2.08950
