Zero lash is when lifter stops ticking while being adjusted , then most cams call for an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn.
( with engine running back off adjusting nut till tappet starts to tick,then take it down a little at a time till sound stops then add the additional 1/2-3/4 turn)
