SBC cam thrust plate question

hi, we are building an 87 or newer SBC roller block engine. we bought the factory roller lifters, spyder, dogbones and cam thrust plate. everything fits but the thrust plate (this is the the piece that bolts to the front of the block around the cam). the 2 bolt holes in the plate are not spaced wide enough apart to match the bolt holes in the block and the hole in the center that the cam comes through appears to be to big. are there 2 different thrust plates on the newer SBC blocks??? i figure some of you machine shop guys should know... thanks

Yes there were two different plates. It seems like I always have the wrong one in stock.

I also ran into this same issue. I just cut the bolt ears off the retaining plate, made it round and then used a cam button. Works great, no issues.

I think I have the one you need, and you have the one I need. 1st design camshaft retainer GMP part # 10088128 (one I have) is for bolt centers of 3.62". The one I need GMP part # 10168501 is for 3.294" bolt centers. They are about $13 on their web site. Summit has em too for about $18. Enter 10088128 in search box.
