SBC casting#3970010

I just found a very badly rusted out 1968 Chevelle nothing left of car but it has a what i think is a 350 in it casting number 3970010, is this maybe the original engine and is it a good one to pull and rebuild. Does anyone know what HP it might be if its stock.

James

3970010s are as common as dirt. Look at the passenger side of the block at the front of the cylinder head. There should be a machined pad there with stamped alpha-numerics. There should be a letter followed by four numbers followed by two or three letters. Post that alpha-numeric here and we will look it up for you. Or you could go to chevymania.com or nastyz28.com and look it up yourself.
