If Im not running a heater do I need to run a bypass hose between the water pump and the manifold?

What small block do you have? SBC's do not have a bypass hose (big blocks do). Small blocks have the bypass built into the waterpump/block. I know this to be true for all small blocks from the mid-late 60's on up.

You can block them off without worry. We did so on the drag car years ago and left it that way when we street drove it.

New GMPP 290 H Crate Motor. getting ready to fire it up for the first time. I currently have the fittings in the water pump and the manifold blocked up. Just wasnt sure if I should connect the two since Im not running a heater core.
