All the newer fuel delivery/emision stuff vs hei/aftermarket intake. It would cost more to go back to basics on the v6. I was also under the impresion the blocks were a finer material on heavy trucks, they have more nickle,I also thought the suv/light trucks came with 2 or 4 bolt main.
Oh yea,hei wont fit anyway. |

Jordan, to me the GM V 6 is like the measles - you only have them once!!! The 700R4 /4.6V6 will take the same space as a SB V 8 with short water pump. I have been there, never to go there again. No mater, you can get a late model GM HEI that is about the same dimensions as the old points distributor. Think it is in the 94 and up Cameros, Vettes and Firebirds. I could get more specific with research, but look in the parts store and they can give you the info. Then you just go to your Bud's yard and start looking. There is some thought that the smaller diameter HEI can have some misfire problems at high RPMs because the plug contacts are closer and the higher energy spark can some times hit the next contact at the high revs. You probably are not going to be there.

Ya know, they make a couple of electronic conversion kits for the smaller gm points distributer fairly cheap and they also make a non window cap with hei posts, they actually work pretty good, like trees said, the posts are closer, but there's no getting around that if you need a smaller diameter one. Thats usually only a problem with way hot coils anyway,or carbon tracking.
