sbc engine identification

Hi, I was wondering... What do the numbers on the front of the block in front of the right head mean. I have a 330817 block... I know it's a car, truck motor, 2 bolt main for 73-80. But these numbers are 16J225265 and T0205CSU. Does anyone out there know what these numbers mean??

Thanks, Luke

my guess

My best guess would be this motor came out of a Caprice. They were built in Janesville Wisconsin and used the 400.

Chevy engine casting numbers
ID'ing Chevy engines

CSU suffix:

1974 400cid; Impala; 150hp; RPO LF-6; TH400; 2-Brl
1974 400cid; Chevelle; 180hp; RPO LT-4; TH400; 4-Brl

As has been said, likely the B-body, the Chevelle wasn't made in Janesville.

I'm pretty sure there is a date stamp on the back by the casting number, right?? I'm pretty sure this is it because there is nothing else back there... "A27 / 76"
Wouldn't that mean the block was cast in 76??

What are you looking for a date specific block, a matching numbers block? The 1974 date from the front of the block is not accurate that's why you have to have all the casting numbers and date codes.

I'm not. I was just wondering what the numbers stamped on the front ment. I have always seen them so I desided to ask around and then you guys said the stamped numbers said it was made in 1974. But I already new the casting numbers said it was cast in 1976. So then I got confused..

Sometimes the things we look up on internet sites have accumulated the wrong information. Relax and take a deep breath, lol.
