SBC Flywheel Clutch Question

I bought a Muncie M21 that came with a flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. It was on a small block in a '55 Chevy, and I'll be using it with a small journal (1967) 327. I don't have a lot of experience with small block Chevy's, so have a few questions. I'm not interested in reusing the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate because I don't want any problems. My question is this: The setup tht came with the trans is a 14" flywheel with a 10.4" clutch. From what I've read, the 10.4" clutch is usually used with a 12.75" flywheel, except very early (pre-'62) . Does it make a difference? What should I use? It will be a mld 327, about 300 HP. For street use only. The engine I bought (from someone else) came with a brand new starter that has two bolt holes parallel (I think this is the small 53t flywheel starter). So it seems I should use the smaller flywheel with the smaller clutch and the starter will fit. Would there be any issues with the 12.75" flywheel on the 327 crank? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to get it right. Thanks.

This should have been moved to the Transmission forum.

With that said, keep the parts matching together for your best chance of getting the starter, flywheel matching and clutch, transmission spline counts matching. Remember this all has to it under a bellhousing too.

The smaller flywheel will work fine, assuming it all bolts together OK. Lots of 327s used them. The big one also works, but it lessens ground clearance a bit. My '72 Nova has the OEM 14" flywheel w/10.4" clutch, but I intend to change to the smaller wheel as soon as I can scrounge up a good full-weight GM unit.
