SBC motor mounts - little problem

Building a car and I am at the "drop engine in" stage....

I have a crossmember motor mount in the frame, it's from TP (now Speedway). I put new mounts on the SBC engine (1960 type Chev V8 mounts). Dropped the engine in and the engine mounts don't line up with the frame mounts. The frame mount holes (tubes) are tighter by 1/4 inch.

Doesn't sound like much, I could "make" it fit, or I could go to the separate weld-on-each-side-of-the-frame mounts, but I'd like to know what the prooblem here is -- if any.

I tried NAPA mounts, then Auto Zone mounts, same issue (I see these are all mde in India now!).

But... could the frame mount be made incorrectly? Measuring between the tube centers, at the front and back of the tubes, I get 16-1/8 inches and 16-1/4 inches....

Anyone got a hot rod frame with SBC mounts (that fit your engine!) you can measure?

I bet, if you loosened up the frame and engine mounts and wiggled them around a bit while lining it up, they would fit fine.

are the mounts rubber and bolted on the block , or the metal cup mounts ?
metal cups are different from the trucks and car .
as stated earlier , more of what it going in

motor mount......

The frame mount is a crossmember mount, see speedway no. 916-18012 -- the location of the mounts are not adjustable. This is going in a Brookville 30 - 31 frame.

There are 2 different style chevy mounts. One is a little wider and flatter than the other. One is 2 5/8 and the other is 2 3/8 Wide between the ears. The wider one is also a little flatter.

I thought all 1958 - 64 Chevy V8 mounts were the same... I do have the wider ones which should be correct but there is some mis-match between the motor mounts and the frame mounts.

As I said, perhaps my frame mount was made wrong... anyone have a hotrod frame set up for a Chev 8 ? -- I'd like the measurement between the frame motor mount tube centers.
