SBC new style crank in old style block

I found out the 2 bolt main 1996 pickup block I bought is cracked.

I bought a 3970010 4-bolt main block this weekend at a swap meet and will be taking it to the machine shop to have them check it out.

My question is, if the crank from the 1996 one-piece rear seal block is good, can I use it with the older style 2-piece rear seal block? I don't have both blocks in my garage to compare. If it won't fit right in, is there an adapter?

No that can't be done if you had a eairly crank and a late block that can be done as we build quite a few engines using these later blocks and older cranks but you have to use a speicial rear seal adp. as we use the earlier oil pans.

To bad your combo wasn't the other way around.
