Imsport, there was no interference to the windage tray when I put it on. I checked.
If away from the crank is right, that's the way I put it. In other words the bend was facing down towards the bottom of the pan.
I remember when I took the bent tube out I had a hell of a time because I didn't know which way it came out. It was quite awhile ago when I removed it, but I remember trying to pull it out from the bottom with pliers and tapping it with a hammer to try to push it up the dipstick hole. Because it was stuck, maybe I bent it when I was trying to get it out.
Chris, unless someone says you're wrong, which I don't think will happen, I'm going with your answer about it pointing down because that's what looked right to me when I put it in. Because of the pan being poor quality, which it is, maybe the windage tray was placed in the wrong place. I quess I'll find out when I install the new pan.
