SBC Question

This question is for anyone that knows the short lived 348 Big Block from the late 50's
The question is about the intake from the 348 is it better than a stock 350 intake the reason I ask is the camaro i just bought has a 350 with a 348 intake.

I just wish I had the rest of the 348 to go with it.

Just for the people that have never heard of the 348 it started life in 1958 as a truck motor.then shortly there after they went to famed 409 the 348 is very easy to identify by the shape of the heads and valve covers

348 manifold on 350

I read the posting for the rest of the 348 engine that the manifold came from. I purchased a three two bbl set up for a 348 one thinking it was for a small block. They're not the same. This was around 1970-71 and as I recall, it was too narrow-slightly too long and had bolt bosses above the intake runners like the chevy big block. So, I'm sure if the manifold you have on the 350 is in use, it's not for the 348/409 family but is for the 265-400 group.

From the casting numbers on the intake it tells me that it is a 348
the numbers read 348/250
and from the research i did that is a 348 with 250 hp.
but I dont know much about the 348 so I could be wrong. and it is a single carb intake, sorry I did not say that in the first post

The 348cu. in motor and the small block are not the same. The 348 is the same block family as the 409. chevy.

JAYP is correct a 348-409 intake only fits 348-409 engines!
