if you have to much duration its not going to make it run any better unless the motor has been stroked if it has a stock stroke your going to be dumping to much fuel and air into the motor thus not going to run right remember you can easily over cam a motor

camaro 355 what does stroking an engine have to do with the cam duration? Your last 2 posts on this thread,I dont understand?
do you have any math to go with your statements?

camaro355, please read through this tutorial by Dimi Elgin of Elgin Cams. It will lay the groundwork for you to understand camshafts.....

Yeah, the truck runs great, though like was suggested earlier a little bigger carb could help out I think.

As I mentioned I'm looking for a 750 cfm carb. Do you guys recommend something with vacuum secondaries? Also, should I go for single or double pumper?

Thought I would bump this thread up, it now has a Holley 750 double pumper on it, it's quicker for sure.

Also, made a video of the truck. (it hesitates to start for a second, because i had the choke in the wrong position)

the tach appears to be over reading imo.
post a driving vid when you get one.Its always appreciated and a good motivator for others to see and hear

It's a brand new Autometer tach, and it said it came factory calibrated for v8's. I'll try to get a driving vid.

I think what he is trying to say is that more stroke & cubes will tend to tame out the ruff idle and low rpm "slug" effect of a higher duration cam.

300 adversized duration in a 283 will be allot harder to deal with on the street than 300 in a 383 kinda thing, just thinking out loud
