SBC Rear Main Seal - Help

Just fired my 350 yesterday and after running it for a half hour noticed that the rear main is leaking. Fired it up today to make sure I wasn't dreaming, once it's warm at about 2500rpm I would get about 1 drip per second - pulled the engine out and have it apart - need to buy some parts, what do you suggest?

The rear main seal I installed was the same brand I ran last year without any problems - just a blue Mr. Gasket 2 piece that came as part of the complete gasket kit. I installed this one the same way, had just a bit of rtv between the two halves, and it leaks. Inspecting closely on one face of the upper half I can see where it is cut just a little - I wonder if somehow I pinched it installing the cap and tore just a bit? Anyways - is the Felpro 2900 what I want or is their something better out there? I can see a faint line on the crank from wear - should I install an offset lip seal just to be safe? It looks like all of the offset lip ones I find are just rubber and not silicone? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'd do the offset. Crank surface is most important.

Also - how hard is a rubber one? Reason I ask: crankshaft is still in the block - I know I can slip a silicone one around the crank, it's pretty stout - is the rubber one the same consistency or soft? Thanks for the help!

The hard rubber ones will also slip around the crank, done it quite a few times.

Just a note I know this is an old thread, But I too have just been burned by a fell pro 2900 rear main. Installed while the engine was out, Crack surface was fine, had to pull the pan in the truck, and Installing a fel pro BS118291 and We will see what happened from there. If it still leaks I'm gonna sell the ****ty *** 2 piece and build my 1 piece seal block, I frigging hate 2 piece rear main seals.
