SBC rough idle and running

I have a 1988 350 SBC that ran great on the way to work today, started it at lunch got rough idle and rough while accelerating. Does it with the engine cold and at running temp.

Plugs look good, choke is working and no vacuum leaks.

What's up?

Figure out which cylinder is missing and go from there. Start with a compression test, and check for a bad plug wire.

I agree. Do a really thorough visual check of the ignition parts. Take off the cap and check condition of it and rotor also check condition of coil. I have seen timing get out of wack due to a dist hold down not being tightened. Check timing. if these check out. Then go through your carb. If that is good you might have some more serious problems. Compression test is in order. Maybe adjust valves etc... good luck
