11-12-13 UPDATE: So last night i got to examining the fuel tank and the fuel lines (did not remove the tank). However i did take out a couple string like things that were similar in texture and feel to what came out of my old fuel filter. So something could maybe be blocking my pickup. But that also doesn't make sense because when i turn the engine over with the ignition coil unplugged and the fuel line off the carb it pumps out gas, healthy. i did inspect the lines up to the fuel filter they are all hard lines except for 4, 3 inch sections of rubber hoses. One off the fuel take, two at the filter, and one to the carb. All were clean and clear. i did not however get a chance to blow out the hard lines last night because it got to late. I did notice that my vent hose coming off the fuel tank was being pinched between the body and the fuel tank so i lifted the body and replaced a spacer thinking that might be a fix. But the same thing happened so that pinched vent line was not my problem.

When it dies you say its like it has no fuel....did you crack the throttle open after it died? Does it shoot fuel into the intake? If so fuel is not the problem. GM HEI is a good system and like all electronic ignition systems, it is prone to breaking....the ignition module often quits working with temperature, I would take it out and down to a local parts store and have it tested, make sure when you install (new or old) use the dielectric grease under it to help with heat dissapation.....will it die at idle just running in the garage?

You put in a glass filter....crank it and hold the throttle at 1500 rpms until it dies and watch the filter see if it runs out of gas.....hope this helps.

I'd say ignition module, esp if you have an accel. To cover your butt rig up a fuel pressure gage where you can see it while driving around and that'll give you information when it craps out.

If it kills itself at the same amount of time every time, then it has to be an ignition problem like the coil or ignition module heating up to a critical point after a certain amount of time.
