SBC threaded oil plug removal help

I am trying to remove the 1/4" NPT oil plug just above the oil filter housing. I have tried both 1/4' and 5/16' allen wrenches. The 1/4' seems too small, the the 5/16' seems to big. Is it supposed to be another size, or is the 1/4' correct and just stripped? If so, what is the best method to extract?

Thanks

What year is it? Have you tried some metrics?

In the future, just use a #9525 Proto extractor. No need to drill.
