SBC Timing Gears
I've got a Cloyes timing gear set and a two-piece timing cover. The instructions for the gear require a .005 to .070 space between the idler gears and the block. I can probably handle that. However, on the front side, if an aftermarket cover is used, the instructions specify a screw of some kind be used to fill the gap between the idler gears and the cover itself. This is apparently to keep the idler gears from walking away from the crank and cam gears. Has anyone installed one of these this way?
