sbc timing marks

I could b wrong but I thought chevy 350 cranks were the same except for the 2pc and 1pc design. the guy who assembled my truck said he got the crank out of a 90s era full size van and the keyway for the dampner is cut in a difrent spot so wen he put a older timing cover on it the timing marks r off (under waterpump), i dont have a timing light yet wating on wife to let me buy one but have anybody heard of this before?

Yes balancer are different as well. I am not an expert on the part numbers sorry no real info to give.

That being said this is the coolest thing ever invented. I am also easily amused.

Crank keyways are all indexed the same. It's the balancer marks and cover timing marks that are different.

It's not the crankshaft keyways that are different, but the different dampers and timing tabs can sure cause a headache. Here you go: SBC Timing tabs/Damper lines
