ok i need some opinions. first off i know there is initial and total timing however i dont really understand total timing at this point. i have a sbc 355, blower cam and pistons, with a 142 supercharger at 8.5 psi, and a 150hp shot of nitrous. i have a msd 6al hei setup. i will probably also install a boost timing master from msd. what i need to know is what to start at with my timing and i need to know how to get total timing. thanks let me know if you need anymore info.
we revved ours to 3grand then set it roiughly at 35... then whatever initial is, initial is.. thats as far as i went, now its off to the dyno let the guru play with it for a few hours
What are the specs on the blower cam? Reason I ask is because a longer duration cam is going to want more spark timing at idle.
What type of fuel are you running? If you're running on 91 octane, a timing retard box makes a lot of sense if you ever plan on dialing up the boost.
agreed, our msd boost timing master, is set to start pulling back 1.5 degree's of timing per pound of boost, starting at 3 lbs.. keeps our timing where we want it for the 95 percent of time we're not above 3 lbs of boost.
