sbc vortec vs lt1 intake bolt pattern shared or different
:welcome: Simply put do the late model truck L31/vortec and the gen II LT-1 share the same intake bolt pattern? THANKS for your help; for the right person this is a no brainer, but right now thats not me, the ans. is holding up progress I've looked & googled ectra nojoy.:smash:
No they are not the same. The water passages in the head/intake manfold are different too.
So is the respective height of the intake port. Port alignment is not the same.
heads and intakes are not swappable between the GEN I motors and Gen II LT-1 LT4 motors.
A L-31 vortec head needs a vortec intake manifold. There are plenty available so no good reason to consider adapting other stuff.
All the "L-31 Vortec" engines are Gen I
They're not the same. Whether they share the same bolt pattern or not is irrelevant. The LT1/LT4 uses a reverse-flow cooling setup that is totally different from the normal Gen I sbc cooling.
ETA: Or what Fbird88 said.
