So ive finally got the money & parts together to strip & rebuild my motor after the cam failure & have come across a couple of potential issues I could do with some advice on.
1: this i think i know the answer on , but always good to get a second opinion. having pulled a piston to check the shells it looks like some particles of crap may have made it through the filter , do these shells look like they will need replacing considering the motor has covered about 1400 miles ?? there all completely smoove , but looking rather polished & there are a couple of spots on them presumably from dirt/metal?
2: having checked all the bores the rear no right cylinder has a score in it, having pulled & inspected piston/ rings it appears that the lower compression ring has picked up on the block at the join & has only polished the dark finish on the upper lip & ring join. Any ideas why this has occurred? the compression rings did not have any markings as some that have a top & bottom so not direction specific. I was thinking that the excessive contact at the wear point could be preventing the ring from gaining a proper seal on the rest of the circufarance.
any ideas / solutions to both much appreciated as have taken time off work to get this motor built & need to get this sorted asap.
Thanks in advance
