SCAT olds 403 balancer

I'm trying to find a better Harmonic balancer for my olds 403, the stock one is newer but i'm not sure if i'm over it's application. Motor won't ever spin faster than 5500.

Does anybody know whats up with all of the SCAT products on summitracing? they all have a professional products badge, and i've heard bad things about those.

BHJ offers 2 different balancers for the Olds motors, one is a basic factory spec replacement, the other is SFI certified. If you need the best, then ATI would be place to go.

Yeah I've seen those, but again i don't want to drop an extra 200-300$ on a balancer if the one i have is sufficient.

A stock balancer in good condition is more than adequate at 5500rpm, wouldnt worry about it unless you start spinning the motor into the mid 6000 range.

Thanks for the info man. Yeah this engine will literally never see 6 grand. I've got a crank girdle for insurance, cam peaks at 5800 RPM, being that i'll be driving the car daily i won't be doing too much hotrodding either.

Btw though, do you know if SCAT is a division of professional products now? I've heard good/bad things about them. From what I've gathered they're fine for street/performance applications, but when you get into racing they seem to want to fly apart.
