Yes, I had the cement guy run a galvanized 1/2" pipe under the slab to 2' square hole in the cement. When the inspector signed off (he asked what the hole was for and my wife didn't say anything he said, " I hate this, no one tells me anything!"). He knew! Then I hand dug a hole deep enough to accept the hoist. Digging is easy here, sandy river bed fill. I bought the hoist used from a service station supply for $75. Got a new control valve that I installed on the garage wall for $25. Bought a new shaft seal from Grebco for $20. Biggest expense was $150 for the hydraulic jack oil! So you can see, it was much cheaper than a new unit. Has been in and operating since 1993 with nary a hiccup.
