Schhereematics

Hello all...I am on the hunt for any schematics I can find for a 1969 Camero... There seems to be a slight problem somewhere in the wiring so I am told...my boyfriend and his father are building this car and here is the dilemma...a few weeks ago after wiring the car they turned the key for the heck of it and the car turn...then they let it sit for two weeks and now there seems to be something shorted out to me because if you turn the key it is nothing...please keep in mind that all the parts that are going into this car are brand spankin new...so now they are in a rut and getting down about this car and they cant seem to figure out what is wrong...nothing in Chiltons seems to help not enough diagrams or it just isnt what they are looking for...so I am on the hunt for some schematics...what schematics I have no clue...was told to find anything that has to do with the car period...so vague and open I know but I am lookin for what i was told...did get it narrowed down to some schematics for the wiring harness in the front end and the wiring for the ignition...something has to be fried somewhere i know it has to be but since I am a female and this is their father and son project I am staying out of it and keeping my mouth shut...but if ANYONE here has any ideas where I can get the schematics I would REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciate any helpful idea and assistance...thanks to all who read this and respond...have a good day now

Auto Zone has some pretty good schematics. You can start here with your vehicle year and click your way through to the electrical diagram.

Here, for example, is the link for the specific 69 Camero diagrams.

Doc here,

The Ignition switch is outlined in all the above drawings..

However, To wire it for "Hot In Run Only" just parallel the wire that goes to the Coil, to the B+ Switched buss..(only hot when the key is on ) with a 10 gauge wire..

The unswitched Side ("Hot at All times" ) will come from the Battery terminal on the starter solenoid..AND this is where a fuse link will be installed..

The wire that feeds the power to the ignition switch will come from here also, it too will get a fuse link at the solenoid battery cable terminal.

The third wire from the battery (if you have a 1 wire or internal regulated alternator) will come from the battery cable on the solenoid , and it's fuse link is installed here.

That's pretty much it as far as the fuse box and fuse links go..

Remember : NEVER install a fuse link IN the passenger compartment of a vehicle...It does it's work by heating up and melting when overloaded, and can set interior parts on fire, melt plastic, and the fumes in a closed compartment are toxic..
