Seam sealer
I have replace a rocker panel and front fender on my truck and was wondering what does the factory use to seal the edges of the seam. Whats on there from factory looks like a caulk almost but is is harder and seems to last and I wanted to put it on where I spot welded the fender well to the fender to seal out moisture. Thanks

its probably just old dried out sealer all they use is seam sealer on it ive found out you can use body panel adhesive to and that stuff gets real hard supposedly you can do patch panels with it too but i prefer welding. oh yeah you can weld through it to so long as you get a good contact

you can do patch panels with it but it shrinks and leaves a line. That stuff is better hidden under a flange. I did some bodywork on a charger that was getting lambo doors. I recall seeing metal placed behind the handle opening with adhesive and at a later point it was welded. Guy told me they put it in primer and it had ALREADY shrunk so they scrapped the idea and welded it in. If it shrunk before it even left the shop I don't even want to know what will happen in the summer. Then again, I'm not entirely sure it was panel adhesive but pretty sure it was.
