Searching for crate rebuilt 700R4...

Awhile back, I posted that the Internal Reaction (Ring) Gear shattered in my 1982 GMC 2500 4x4 truck. Here are the links to my previous posts.

I've bought a TCI 4L80E and had good results fwiw.

My family owns a trans. shop in Lawton Oklahoma but shipping may be non-cost effective. The trans. I bought came from TCI because 4L80E's are scarce and the family shop did not have one. Let me know if you want a price for trans. or call them yourself. Allied Trans. @ 580-357-1100. Let them know Jim sent you.

It might be more cost effective to buy a later model salvage yard trans. with factory updates and use that as an overhaul candidate. If they'll let you pull the pan and inspect for material in pan before purchase, that will give you a very good idea as to it's condition assuming no one has had the pan off and cleaned it already. You may be able to install it without anything more than a front seal replacement if it's a good unit. Some salvage yards test trans. before removal and sell trans. with a guarantee that it will work properly to start with. For how much longer than that I guess is dependent on the salvage yard itself.

Good luck,
Jim
