seat foam questions

This is the first seat cover I have disassembled so I had a few questions about some various types of foam used in sewing the cover. Ive attached some pics of the various foam used on the bottom section of my front buckets from a 2002 Trans AM. I thought they were all "sew foam" but wondered in their differences. the square pleated section is the center of the bottom seat and the scruffy cloth on the back attaches to black velcro type strips on the bottom seat foam base (I know Dan has talked about these velcro type strips before). Is this type of sew foam with the scruffy cloth backing called a different name or is the scruffy cloth just sewed to the back of regular sew foam so that it can be adhered to the black velcro strips?

The second pic has the center square section butted up next to the front section that uses a sew foam that has a sifferent backing to doesnt seem like its a cloth backing it called something else?

Then the third pic shows a large curved pieces of foam that actually has a varying thickness to it as it bends down around the front of the seat. this piece of foam has a thin piece of cloth on the back of I assume it is not regular sew foam but probably a shaped piece of foam with the cloth just sewn to it? This extra curved piece of foam with the cloth backing was sewed to the bottom of the curved leather assembled section next it.

1) You can buy sew foam that has a velcro cloth on the back of it, which is what that is. The black strips are called Velstick.

2) The backing is called Remay on that piece.

3) Yes, it probably is a shaped piece of foam. If I were you, I would just use 1/2" sew foam for that part of the seat cover and if it needs extra, add it underneath the sew foam attached to the seat foam.

No one lives forever, the trick is creating something that will.
