seat wrinkles
3 Attachment(s)
i scratch built this seat a couple months back. 3/4 thick plywood, 5 in wirecut 2560 foam rave material both red and black. i glued the center panels to 1/4 thick sewfoam with weldwood landau adhesive. now i have wrinkles toward the back and i can't tell if it is the rave turning loose from the sew foam or between the sewfoam and the high density foam. the panels are not glued to the high density only stretched and stapled. what do you think is happening?

Let the seats sit out in the sun on a nice warm day, and then sit on them.
You probably used too much glue to hold the fabric to the sew foam. You only need enough glue to hold the fabric to the sew foam long enough to stitch around the perimeter of the parts, the lighter the better. I don't use contact adhesive to glue fabric to sew foam, I use foam to foam glue that I know won't hold when the seats get warm. Nice looking seats. |
thanks, what name brand foam to foam glue do you use. i'll try it

I use products called Kwik-Spray 225, K-Grip 201, or K-Spray, and spray them with a Critter Sprayer. Check out this Wiki article on contact adhesives. CLICK HERE
